Tommy Lasorda enjoyed playing baseball in Cuba and for the Kansas City Athletics in the 1950's after being with the Brooklyn Dodgers yet many don't know about the Florida connection. For 50 years the Dodgers were owned by the O'malley family and the current Petter O'mally recently saved Dodgertown USA from extinction. Dodgertown USA is Vero Beach where the team used to enjoy their spring training. In fact they recently named the road leading into the facility: Tommy Lasorda Lane. Tommy also had a food company by the name of Lasorda Italian Foods which was sold to a Boca Raton, FL holding company. He will be 90 years old in September of this year and is currently recovering from heart surgery.
